Sami Reyes
Signed artist/
Lisbon, Portugal
Sami Reyes plays tenor saxophone with a soft, rough tone learned in the late bars of Lisbon’s Bairro Alto. His quartet records for STATIC’s small jazz imprint, Static Blue.
Saxophonist, Composer
“The saxophone is just a way of breathing in public.”
He composes on a piano with three dead keys and builds every tune around the notes he cannot play.
His residency at the depot runs every last Thursday of the month — doors at nine, no setlist.
